Agents of SHIELD Showrunner Teases ‘Dollhouse’ Reunion

The final season of Agents of SHIELD has been one of the series’ best, and with only five episodes left, there’s a whole lot that can still happen. Season seven has seen the return of some old favorites, including Enver Gjokaj as Agent Carter’s Daniel Sousa. Last week also saw the first appearance of Dichen Lachman as Jiaying, Daisy Johnson’s mother, since Agents of SHIELD’s second season. Of course, this is not Gjokaj and Lachman’s first time working on a Whedon series. The two starred in Dollhouse, which ran from 2009-2010, as Victor/Anthony and Sierra/Priya, which was arguably the show’s best couple. While the two haven’t shared the screen on Agents of SHIELD, showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen recently posted photos of their behind-the-scenes reunion.

“Just a little #Dollhouse reunion on @agentsofshield,” Tancharoen wrote.

While it’s unclear if Lachman will be showing up again this season, we have a feeling she will considering the last episode’s discovery that Daisy has a sister and that Jiaying was forced out of Afterlife. However, we’re going to assume it will not happen next week since the intense tease for the episode (see above), “As I Have Always Been,” shows the team dying over and over in a time loop. The episode marks the directorial debut of Elizabeth Henstridge, who plays Jemma Simmons on the series. You can read the official synopsis for the episode below:

“A time storm ravages the Zephyr, propelling it toward destruction while simultaneously forcing Daisy and Coulson to relive their failed attempts to save the team over and over, until they find a solution or are swallowed by the storm. Making it to their next destination will take trust, courage and sacrifice from everyone on board, but it will all come down to having enough time.”

Dichen Not Returning to “Altered Carbon” Season 2

Altered Carbon will see a major cast change between its two seasons. Altered Carbon on Netflix maintains a premise that remains largely open to re-casting. And this is an opportunity that the makers are making good use of. The series’ title character, Takeshi Kovacs will find a new host body in Anthony Mackie in Season 2, thus discontinuing Joel Kinnaman- the original hero’s association with the series. Additionally, while Chris Conner and Renée Elise Goldsberry will return to reprise their respective roles of Edgar Poe and Quellcrist Falconer on Altered Carbon Season 2, other original cast members will desert the show for its second season. James Purefoy, Martha Higareda, Dichen Lachman, Ato Essandoh, Kristin Lehman, and Trieu Tran have all bid farewell to the Netflix show. Following their exits, Altered Carbon will introduce Simone Missick as Trepp, Dina Shihabi as Dig 301, Torben Liebrecht as Colonel Ivan Carrera, and James Saito as Tanaseda Hideki in its fresh second season.

Altered Carbon Season 2 has also locked a few new names to helm its season 2. Alison Schapker will take from Laeta Kalogridis as the new show-runner on the Netflix presentation. While Kalogridis will retain her production duties, Schapker will develop and produce an original script for the show’s second part.

Video: Animal Kingdom Season 4: “Control”

If there was any doubt who’s in charge of the Cody crime family… well, there isn’t now.

TNT has given us our first look at Season 4 of Animal Kingdom — which you can watch above — and in the new teaser, Ellen Barkin’s mama-bear matriarch Smurf reasserts her authority, getting in grandson J’s face and barking: “I’m the boss… you stick with me.” She also commands him to “keep me in the loop,” which makes sense, seeing as how Deran and his brothers are pulling off a series of daring bank robberies in Charlie Chaplin masks — which leads to a pulse-pounding police chase.

Plus, we see Smurf yelling for blood as one of her boys steps into the mixed martial arts ring. It might be her eldest son Pope, whose face is covered with scars and bruises as his mom taunts him: “Are you out of control, baby?” Yeah, we wouldn’t show any weakness around her if we were you.

Season 4 of Animal Kingdom still doesn’t have a premiere date — the teaser will only say it’s “coming soon” — but what do you want to see when it does return?
